I'm editing to add that I use quality fabrics. I start my listings very low. I just love to sew. I also like to see kids be able to have a good inexpensive product, that their parents can afford.

Oh my AG Dress Designer, you have some really beautiful work available at Ebay! Once I get my Felicity for Christmas (I hope!), I'm definitely going to have to buy several of your Felicity outfits if you still have them available. My favorite has to be the shopping outfit.

I, too, used to be "name brand only", but have recently discovered that many seamstress' AG dresses are better quality than AG itself. I do have 2 dresses from DollylandsMom, one for Kit and one for Felicity. They are the kind you never want to take off since they are so well done. I have one of Petrassewingbox's too and of AG Dress Designers, and would gladly recommend either.

I've become very disillusioned about the quality of currently produced AG clothing. The fabrics seem cheap, the trimmings seem out of proportion in many cases, the workmanship is often questionable, and, on the historicals at least, the skirts are so skimpy and short! I've returned several pieces lately and am now concentrating on buying some of the older Pleasant Company outfits that are retired. But,I am really much happier with the clothing I've bought from ebay seamstresses - and I think it has collectible value in itself. There are many sellers who really research the period clothing and are very careful to make it authentic. The biggest problem is finding authentic looking shoes and undergarments! I also don't like velcro, so I really like the sellers who use buttons or snaps.

I know from buying from many different sources that you get what you pay for...and I think AG is trying to hold the line somewhat on the prices they charge. At some point, I suppose you have to cut some corners. A Life of Faith clothing is, in my opinion, much better quality and far superior in workmanship BUT, is also almost double the cost! (And, the time line for their fashions is very narrow.) Most of the really nice ebay outfits are significantly more costly also. I guess each person has to decide what matters most: cost, quality, historical accuracy, authenticity. Just my $.02!! Lin

I only buy AG items. Mostly because as of right now, I'm an adult collector buying for myself, and don't want a big collection just to *have* one, I don't really PLAY with my dolls, just change them and play with their hair. I want my collection to be a nice heirloom for a daughter someday, and I really just want AG pieces for that. Of course, if I ever have a daughter (I'm only 19, I have plenty of time [img]wink.gif[/img] ), and she wants other items, I'll be sure to get them for her!

I used to be an "AG ONLY" girl, thinking only AG could match the quality I wanted. But after a while, AG stopped making new clothes, especially for the historicals, regularly enough for me. I wanted more dresses for Felicity besides the six that were available.

So I branched out. Right now I've bought several dresses from DolliesDressmaker and have been very pleased with all of them. Really, the only difference I can tell from DD and AG is the material. You can tell that the material from DD comes from a fabric store, while PM material for AG was very high quality (now I'm not so sure about AG fabric or sewing quality as I once was). I also just bought a dress from Carpatina, which hasn't arrived yet (so I can't review) and my mom got me a dress from Petrassewingbox on Ebay. My mom says Petra's dress is amazing quality, and she should know - my mom used to be a professional seamstress herself.

The only thing I have purchased handmade are Angie's cardigans. She made two camoflage ones for me and I got one of her Autumn pullovers. Her stuff looks really good on the dolls too. [img]graemlins/thumbs_up.gif[/img]

My dad just brought one of my dolls and my dress from Carpatina (it got shipped to my old shipping address rather than my new one for some reason) so maybe tonight, if I have time, I can dress my doll and take a picture!

Does anyone know how to get a picture from a cell phone to a computer? I know I can "send" pictures to other phones ... I have the Verizon LG. There must be a way to get the pics out, right?

If not, I can probably borrow my BFs camera, but he won't be home until late late tonight.
